A person who spiked treats with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two children aged nine and ten years old.
The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She said the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated objects including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She said the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the events.
The prosecutor stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement once more.
She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
